During calibration and commissioning of an 8", 0.4 beta Venturi meter Prognosis detected a geometry entry error. It was subsequently confirmed that there was an erroneous throat diameter in use. The resulting flow prediction bias would have been 1.6%.
However, as Prognosis highlighted the issue before the meter entered service, the issue was corrected, and a mismeasurement was avoided.
