CoVor Case Study

CoVor Meter Case Study

The CoVor meter measures the fluid density as well as the mass flow. CoVor meters were installed on a oil truck’s loading and unloading line (see Figures 1 and 2). As the oil is of varying grade / density it was important to be able to meter the mass flow and fluid density. The oil truck is an extremely adverse metering environment with short meter runs, severe meter vibration during off road transit, intermittent flows, and varying fluid densities.

Saturated Steam CoVor Meter at Boiler Outlet

A boiler operator had the quality setting at 72%. Apart from trusting the boiler manufacturer’s specifications, the only way of checking the boiler outlet quality was the traditional laborious manual method of periodically comparing the boiler inlet and outlet water sample relative salinities.

Saturated Steam CoVor Meter at Oil Pad Injection Site

An oil field operator using Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) saturated steam injection wished to improve the control of steam quality injection. Optimal production requires precise control of the saturated steam quality. However, traditional methods of estimating the steam quality were rudimentary so the operator wished to test the CoVor meter’s ability measure the quality.
