A 10” 0.4 beta Venturi meter was calibrated to be Prognosis ready (see Figure). This meter was installed offshore to meter a production flow the operator suspected would be wet gas flow. Prognosis immediately showed a problem, and pattern recognition specifically indicated the DPs were read correctly, and the problem was wet gas flow.
The operator wished to specifically monitor changes in wet gas flow liquid loading (and not confuse changes in PLR with any DP reading problems). The operator 'zeroed' Prognosis to monitor the meter performance using that wet gas-liquid loading performance at the time of zeroing as the baseline. Now, if and when the liquid loading changes, Prognosis trends these changes while alerting the meter user. Unlike other wet gas Venturi, meter systems Prognosis can and does distinguish between liquid loading changing the performance and other issues, such as faulty DP readings.
A light liquid loading, as indicated here, can have a gas flow mis-measurement od 'over-reading' of 5%. The mismeasurement of a typical gas flow of 1,870,000 Sm3/day is:
after 1 day | $27,115 |
---|---|
after 30 days | $813,450 |
after 1 year | $9,903.754 |
*based on gas price of $ 0.29/Sm3.
